We want to increase our faith in order to live a holy life. Holiness is the act of dedicating your life to God.  The word "holy" literally means "separte" or "set apart".  For example, the phrase "Holy Bible" literally means "Separate Book".

How can we live a holy life, that is, a life set apart for God? This is a problem common to all God's servants. There are two things you can do to increase your focus and minimize distraction:

  1. Pray.

This is what Jesus told his disciples to do when they could keep their focus on him. Matthew 26:41  Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. 2. Pay more attention to God's word

Psalm 119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

  3. Do works of faith.

Not prescribed works to earn salvation. Nothing we can do will earn us anything in God's sight. However, we are called upon to demonstrate that we have faith by the way we live - in the things we say and do each day in our relationship to others. One writer said that the secret of learning how to love is to do loving things. In the doing, love grows. So it is with faith. Do things motivated by faith and in doing those things your faith will grow and become stronger.

Philippians 2:12,13  Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

James 2:20, 26 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?.... For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

The bottom line answer to your question is that the greatest tools to building up faith are three:

  1. Pray
  2. Read/meditate on/study God's word
  3. Act
