Job's children seemed to have been self-absorbed sinners.  In today's vernacular they would be called "party animals".  See Job 1:4-5.  For some reason Job's children did not share his faith. In fact they seemed to be antagonistic to God.  We know this from Job's words and the fact that he offered sacrifices on their behalf. They were nowhere to be found at such times of worship.

The bottom line is that the death of Job's children recorded in Job 1:18-19 was final. It was not only a trial for Job but also a judgment upon the children themselves.

The family recorded in Job 42:13-16 was blessing added to Job following his trials.
