God provides us with all that we have, so it is reasonable that we give him thanks.

1 Chronicles 29:11 Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

Acts 14:17… he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

Acts 17:25… he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

Israel were instructed to give thanks

1 Chronicles 16:8 Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.

1 Chronicles 16:34 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

The saints and righteous are instructed to give thanks

Psalms 30:4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

Psalms 140:13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.

Jesus gave thanks

Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

John 6:11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

God has provided a way of escape from sin and death for which we should give thanks.

1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

Romans 14:6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

There are consequences to being unthankful.

Romans 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

At the time of the end men will become unthankful.
