There is only one God and he is the Creator, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ.

God punishes the wicked and rewards the righteous. All men and women are wicked in the sense that they disobey God’s commandments. Disobedience is sin and the punishment for all sin is death. We are all under sentence of death.

Ezekiel 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

How and when we die is immaterial. If it wasn’t for the fact that God is a merciful God we would all be dead.
The character of God is declared in the Old Testament.

Exodus 34:6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, 7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

God does not change.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

It was out of love for his creation that God allowed his only begotten Son to be put to death.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jesus demonstrated the gracious character of his Father and gave his life for the remission of sin.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

This love was in God when he fathered his Son.

In order for the faithful to enjoy eternal life, the wicked must be removed from the earth.

Psalms 37:28 For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

Psalms 37:34 Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

Proverbs 2:22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
As the Creator, God is free to deal with his creation in any way he chooses.

Romans 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
If we choose to think he is wrong in the way he deals with his creation, the problem is with our standard of morality not his.

Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
When Jesus returns to judge the earth, we will see a very different side to his character.
Those who make war with him will be annihilated.

Isaiah 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
