John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

The difficulty in John’s writing is determining where the literal word of God ends, and the word of God made flesh begins.

From the context I believe that John is speaking of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is not the ‘word’ of God, he is the word of God made, or manifested, in the flesh.

Before his birth he existed only in the plan and purpose of God.

He is the word of God made flesh, in that:

1. His birth, life, death, resurrection, heaven-going and return to establish the kingdom of God are all prophesied in the scriptures - the word of God.

2. He lived his life in perfect obedience to the word of God.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

In this way he was the word of God manifested in the flesh.

The translators have incorrectly used the word ‘by’.

Clearly the world was made by God, not Jesus Christ.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Jesus is not God, he is the Son of God.

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Using Strong’s Concordance:

By <1223>. διά dia; a primary preposition denoting the channel of an act; through (in very wide applications, local, causal, or occasional): —  after, always, among, at, to avoid, because of (that), briefly, by, for (cause) … fore, from, in, by occasion of, of, by reason of, for sake, that, thereby, therefore, X though, through(-out), to, wherefore, with(-in). In composition it retains the same general import.

God made the world not ‘by’ Jesus Christ but ‘because of’; although his life and death were necessary for the fulfilment of God’s purpose.

Psalms 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

Psalms 72:8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.

I hope you find this helpful.

God bless,
