Loins girt about with truth

Understanding the truth is very important.

We must know why we believe what we believe and not be misled by false doctrine.

There are many churches and they can’t all be teaching the truth.

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Truth is found in the scriptures of truth in the teaching of Jesus Christ.

Romans 15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:

What we believe must be 100% supported by scripture.

The first step is to understand the truth taught by Jesus and his apostles.

Breastplate of righteousness

We must do that which is right in the sight of God which means that we must understand, believe and obey the gospel preached by Jesus and his apostles. We are required to repent of our sinful way of life and be baptised by immersion in water into Jesus Christ for the remission of past sins. After baptism we must live a new life by the commandments of Christ.

Gospel of peace

We must obey the gospel and be prepared to preach it to others as we find opportunity. We must be harmless as doves in its dissemination.

Shield of faith

Faith is what we do because of what we believe. We must work the works of faith because faith without works is dead and cannot save us. Faith in the promises of God through Jesus Christ enables us to endure affliction in this life.

Helmet of salvation

The sure and certain promise of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, serves to guard our minds against the evils of this world.

Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

The word of God makes us wise unto salvation and tells us all we need to know about God and his purpose and what we need to do to have a part in it. The word of God is 100% reliable.

2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
