Using Strong’s Concordance:

Hell <1067> γέεννα geenna of Hebrew origin [01516 - gee and 02011 - Hinnom]; valley of (the son of) Hinnom; ge-henna (or Ge-Hinnom), a valley of Jerusalem, used (figuratively) as a name for the place (or state) of everlasting punishment: —  hell.

There is no justification for translating this word as ‘hell’

The valley of Hinnom is the valley south of Jerusalem where human sacrifices were made to idols.

It was turned into a rubbish dump and fires burned continually to consume rubbish.

It is used as a figure to denote the complete destruction of the wicked.

The idea of a place where the immortal souls of the wicked are tormented by fire eternally is not found in the Bible.

The Bible teaches that souls die.

Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die.

The punishment for sin is death, not eternal torment.

In death we are unconscious.

Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing,

The dead remain unconscious in the grave until Christ returns to raise them for judgment.

John 5:28  Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29  And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation (condemnation).

Those judged righteous will be rewarded with eternal life.

Those judged unrighteous will be condemned to die again and perish forever.

This is called the second death in Revelation 20:14 and is represented by a ‘lake of fire’.

Revelation 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

I hope this helps.

God bless,
