The purpose of Proverbs:

Proverbs 1:1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; 2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; 3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; 4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

Proverbs 4:20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

Listen to the words of wisdom

21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

Don’t forget them, read them frequently and commit them to memory.

22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

The words if understood and acted upon will result in eternal life

23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Keep the words carefully for your life depends upon it.

24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

Do not use bad or abusive language or tell lies.

25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

Keep your eyes fixed on the end target (eternal life).

26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

Think carefully about your lifestyle. Order your life according to the words of wisdom.

27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

Keep to the straight path that leads to life, don’t turn aside. Don’t do that which is evil in the sight of God.

Ecclesiastes 7:12 For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.

I hope this helps.

God bless,
