Where does the Bible say not to call anyone your Father?

Jesus said:

Matthew 23:9 Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.

This is to be understood as a command not to make men into ‘spiritual’ fathers, believing what they say without question, and reverencing them as ‘spiritual’ superiors. Roman Catholics are an example of a complete failure to observe this commandment.

It does not prohibit our natural father being called ‘father’.

I hope you find this helpful.

God bless,
