I am a Christian girl married to a Hindu man. Can my husband be saved?

The scriptures which make up the Bible were written by inspiration of God for the purpose of making us ‘wise unto salvation’.

Paul explains to Timothy:

2 Timothy 3:15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

According to the Bible the only way that anyone can attain to salvation is by understanding, believing, and obeying the Gospel preached by Jesus Christ and his apostles.

Jesus instructed his disciples:

Mark 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16; "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

The first act of faith is to recognise that we need to repent – to change the way that we live. The second is to be baptised into Jesus Christ by immersion in water for the remission of past sins. Jesus himself insisted on being baptised even though he had no sins which needed to be forgiven. His explanation to John who didn’t think Jesus needed to be baptised is recorded by Matthew:

Matthew 3:15 But Jesus answered and said to him, "Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed Him.

Jesus clearly sets the example for all who want salvation. Baptism is a symbolic death and resurrection – a new beginning.

Romans 6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Following baptism we must live our lives by the commandments of Jesus Christ.

John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 "You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

We cannot live a sinless life, but providing we are making a determined effort to live by Christ’s commandments our sins will be forgiven by confession in prayer.

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

The Bible teaches that there is no other way to salvation other than through Jesus Christ.

Acts 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

The Gospel consists of the things concerning the kingdom of God and the namne of Jesus Christ.

Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.

The kingdom of God will be the restored kingdom of David upon the earth. The angel Gabriel told Mary:

Luke 1:32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 "And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.

Jesus will rule over the mortal population of the earth from Jerusalem for 1000 years. At the end of this time there will be a second resurrection and a final judgment. All who live on after this will receive the divine nature and the earth will be filled with the Glory of God. Paul explains what is going to happen:

1 Corinthians 15:20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. 23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming. 24 Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. 25 For He must reign (the 1000-year reign) till He has put all enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. 27 For "He has put all things under His feet." But when He says "all things are put under Him," it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. 28 Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.

This is the fulfilment of God's purpose.

Numbers 14:21 but truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD

This then, in a nutshell, is the Gospel, and anyone who wants to be part of it, and so attain salvation, must believe and obey the commandments of Jesus Christ as recorded in the New Testament.

I hope you find this helpful.

God bless,
