Are there people that are able to talk to the dead who aren't soothsayers or wizards?

The dead cannot be contacted because in death they are unconscious – their faculties have turned to dust.

The sentence on Adam for his sin was death.

Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

As his posterity, we all sin and we all die.

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned

The Bible makes clear that In death we are unconscious.

Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

Psalms 146:4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

Psalms 6:5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?

Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

The idea that we have an immortal soul or spirit that continues in a conscious existence after death is a pagan conceit not supported in scripture, but sadly adopted by apostate Christianity. Those who claim to be able to contact the dead are charlatans who prey on the gullible. The Papacy, who claim to be able to make ‘saints’ of the dead, are blind leaders of the blind.
