Did Enoch die? If he didn't die, was he really John the Baptist?

We are told 2 things about Enoch:

  1. That God took him Genesis 5:24
  2. That he was ‘translated’ or ‘taken away’ so that he did not see death.

The KJV says that God ‘translated him’. Hebrews 11:5 KJV By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

The NKJV says that he was ‘taken away’. Hebrews 11:5 NKJV By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, "and was not found, because God had taken him"; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

Now we know that Enoch wasn’t taken to heaven, for Jesus says: John 3:13.

And we know that John Baptist was conceived by Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth as a baby. Luke 1:13

So, we must conclude that Enoch couldn’t possibly be John Baptist and we do not know what happened to Enoch.

Is it possible that God was able to transfer Enoch through time directly into the future kingdom of God? We must wait until the kingdom of God arrives and we can ask him.

I hope you find this helpful.

God bless,
Glenn
