What to say to people who say there is no life after death in heaven?

Heaven is what we see when we look upward. Genesis 1:1; Exodus 20:11; Nehemiah 9:6; Psalm 33:6

Jesus ascended to heaven. Acts 1:11.

  • No one else has ever ascended to heaven. John 3:13; Acts 2:34
  • We do not possess an ‘immortal' soul. Our whole being is a soul. Genesis 2:7
  • Souls die. Ezekiel 18:4
  • When we die our whole being - our soul - dies and is placed in the grave. Psalm 89:48
  • In death we are completely unconscious because our faculties perish. Psalm 146:4; Ecclesiastes 9:5

The Kingdom of God a.k.a. the Kingdom of Heaven is not in heaven. It will be the restored kingdom of David upon the Earth and Jesus Christ will rule the world from Jerusalem. Luke 1:32,33

The hope of the Gospel is that of resurrection from the dead to eternal life when Jesus returns to establish the kingdom of God. The idea that we continue in a conscious existence after death and go to heaven (or to a fictitious place called ‘hell’) is Pagan in origin and not found in the Bible. The only way that we can attain to life after death is by resurrection from the dead. Jesus Christ was the first to be raised from the dead to eternal life. 1 Corinthians 15:20-23; Philippians 3:11
