Why is there so much hypocrisy in the church today? Because churches are made up of people; and people for the most part are hypocrites.

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?

Mark 7:21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 "thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. 23 "All these evil things come from within and defile a man.

Why are the churches not united? Because they preach different gospels.

Galatians 1:8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
.
1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

History bears witness that the Christian Church had become completely corrupt and filled with pagan doctrine  by the end of the fourth century (becoming the Roman State Church). The Mother of harlots (Revelation 17:5) has been in power from the seventh century and her daughters have been brought forth from the time of the Reformation onwards.

Because the churches are not united under the Papacy as in the Dark and Early Middle Ages we are able to possess and read the Bible in our mother tongue without being burnt at the stake. For which we should thank God. If we read the Bible for ourselves we will have the opportunity to see that there is no salvation in this multitude of churches. The one thing that they have in common is a gospel which is different to the one preached by Paul.

What do we do to overcome this disease? The disease will not be overcome until Christ returns. The only option we have is to determine the true gospel preached in the Bible and obey it. In doing this we will save ourselves. Having understood and obeyed the gospel, we are to preach it to others. In doing this we may save them.

2 Timothy 3:15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

1 Timothy 4:16 Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

The problem is and always has been the same.

Matthew 7:13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 "Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. 15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 "You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 "Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 "Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Like the Jews before them:

Mark 7:7 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’

I hope this helps.
