Ephesians 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Redeeming the time means to buy it back. The world seeks to conrol our time and encourages us to use it for pleasure and self-seeking.

The Greek word translated "redeem" in this passage literally means to buy from the market place. We need to shift our focus from pleasing our selfish desires to doing those things of which God approves.

This is how other version translate this passage:

[ESV] making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.

[NIV] making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
