There is almost no information given about Mary's early life. There is no reason to believe she was raised by the High Priest of Israel because, if she had been, she would have been very wealthy and would not have been permitted to have been betrothed to a humble carpenter like Joseph. In those days, a young woman like Mary would have had absolutely no say in such a matter.
