The Bible is silent on this topic. We do know that sexual activity is sanctioned only within marriage. The use of birth control to allow one to have sexual relationships outside of marriage without fear of consequences is wrong.
HoweverI see no scriptural reason why a married couple cannot use birth control/contraceptives until they are ready to have children.
