Leviticus 19:31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.
Leviticus 20:6 And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul...
Deuteronomy 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
Sorcerers, wizards, witches, those that have familiar spirits (mediums) etc., all claim powers that they do not possess. To them we can add fortune tellers and astrologers. People who listen to them do so because they know not God.
NKJV Isaiah 8: 19 And when they say to you, "Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter," should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living?

Balaam makes the truth clear. Man has no power outside of himself other than God.
Numbers 23:8 How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied?
There is no power but of God. Those who claim supernatural powers are de facto in opposition to God. They are effectively false prophets. The Law of Moses requires that those who make these false claims be put to death.
Those who believe the gospel and are baptised into Christ are not under the Law of Moses and have no mandate to enforce the Law; but they should understand that such people have no genuine power.
Many Churches perpetuate the myth that powers of evil exist outside of the natural powers of men. Their understanding of witchcraft is flawed. The treatment of ‘witches’ is another stain on the pages of the history of apostate Christianity.
Saul becomes an example of one who should have known better..
1 Chronicles 10:13 So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it;
Those who believe that the woman of Endor had the power to contact the dead Samuel fall into the same error as Saul.
