No, the world is not ending.

God created the world to be inhabited.

Isaiah 45:18  For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

God intends to fill the earth with his glory.

Numbers 14:21  But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.

His glory will consist of men and women raised to the divine nature.

2 Peter 1:4  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

God will live in and with those raised to the divine nature forever upon an earth restored to its former glory.

Revelation 21:3  And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

God promised Abraham an eternal inheritance in the land of Canaan.

Genesis 13:14  And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: 15  For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. 16  And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered. 17  Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.

Those who believe the gospel and are baptised by immersion in water into Christ become Abraham’s seed and heirs of the promise of eternal inheritance on the earth.

Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27  For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28  There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29  And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

The fulfilment of this promise will be the kingdom of God upon earth.

Request is made for it in the ‘Lord’s prayer’:

Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

The meek are promised this inheritance:

Psalms 37:11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

This eternal inheritance requires the forgiveness of sin and resurrection to eternal life.

This has been made possible by the perfect life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Those who believe and obey the gospel preached by Jesus and his apostles will be raised from the dead to eternal life when Christ returns.

The kingdom will begin with a one-thousand-year reign of Christ over the mortal population of the earth.

Following this there will be a second resurrection and final judgment.

Those rejected will be condemned to die again and perish forever.

Those accepted will receive eternal inheritance on the earth and God will be all in all.

Paul explains what is to happen:

1 Corinthians 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 21  For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23  But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. 24  Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25  For he must reign (the 1000-year reign), till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26  The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 27  For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28  And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
