Thank you for asking a question on This is your Bible.

There used to be both prophets and prophetesses.

Exodus 15:20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron...

Judges 4:4 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.

2 Kings 22:14 So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess...

Luke 2:36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser...

According to the Bible the last and greatest prophet was Jesus Christ, the son of God.

Hebrews 1:1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,

2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

His final prophecy was given to John c AD96 and is the last book in the New Testament.

There have been no prophets or prophetesses since, neither is there a need because God’s revelation of his plan and purpose was completed in Jesus Christ and all that is necessary for us to know is preserved in written form.

NKJV 2Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The doctrine is complete.

1Timothy 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

2John 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

The gospel is complete.

Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

All professed prophets and prophetesses that have arisen since the end of the 1st century have been false.

Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

No further prophets or prophetesses are required because the scriptures themselves are able to make us ‘wise unto salvation’

2Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
